GMC Acadia Limited Model To Be Sold Alongside New Generation

posted in: GMC | 0

2016 GMC Acadia Limited will be produced along side the 2017 GMC Acadia

After almost a decade of being on the market, the old generation of the GMC Acadia is finally being phased out and replaced with the next-generation 2017 Acadia. However, the Acadia is such a popular vehicle that GMC just can’t let the old version go. As a result, the old model will be renamed as the GMC Acadia Limited, and will be sold alongside the 2017 Acadia when it goes on sale in the spring of this year.

General Motors spokesperson Brian Goebel was the one who made the announcement in a statement to auto publication Automotive News (subscription required). However, he didn’t mention when the Acadia Limited would eventually go out of production, only stating that the two models will be available simultaneously for “a limited time.” According to Goebel, the decision to keep the Acadia Limited in production was to ensure that the factory at which the previous generation was built kept a full production schedule, due to the fact that the 2017 model is being built elsewhere.

The 2017 GMC Acadia was redesigned to be more compact than the previous generation, with the 2017 model’s dimensions being 7.2 inches shorter in length, 3.5 inches narrower, and 3.9 inches lower. Additionally, the Acadia will become over 700 pounds lighter. Despite all of this, the crossover will still offer seating for up to seven passengers, as well as a choice of two engines and the option of either front-wheel or all-wheel drive.

The GMC Acadia Limited will continue to be produced at the Lansing, Michigan plant alongside the other vehicles under General Motors with which the crossover shares its platform — the Buick Encore and the Chevrolet Traverse. It is unknown what the Lansing plant will replace the Acadia Limited with after the old model phases out of production.

How to Change a Tire

No matter how well you take care of your tires – a blowout can still occur. This is why it’s vital to know how to change a tire ahead of time, before you find yourself in an emergency. Here is a simple summary of how to change a tire:

  1. Slowly move to the side of the road, or to another safe location, and put on your emergency lights.
  2. Use a wrench to loosen the lug nuts, but do not remove them yet.
  3. Use a jack to lift up the vehicle, about six inches above the ground.
  4. Now, remove the lug nuts that you previously loosened, and gently remove the tire.
  5. Place your spare tire in its place.
  6. Put the lug nuts back on but do not tighten them fully yet.
  7. Lower the vehicle back onto the ground.
  8. Tighten the lug nuts carefully, applying pressure equally to each lug nut. Start by tightening one random lug nut at about 50%, and then tighten the lug nut on the opposite side of that one. Continuing tightening the lugs nuts in this fashion until they are all as tight as possible.

Lastly, don’t forget to pick up your broken tire and dispose of it properly. For more tips and safety advice, visit us anytime at Hatfield Buick GMC.

Families Love the Yukon

The GMC Yukon has always been a well-respected vehicle, and nowadays it’s moving out of the “well-respected” range and into the realm of “beloved.” That might be a big claim, but we’ve got the proof to back it up: families love the Yukon, they really, really love it.

U.S. News and World Report recently announced the 2016 GMC Yukon is the “Best Large SUV for Families,” a coveted title in a thick SUV market.

Families love the Yukon for its wealth of comfort, capability, and infotainment features. The 2016 GMC Yukon comes stocked with Apple CarPlay and built-in Wi-Fi, ensuring that no one in the family gets bored during those long road trips. And when it comes to safety, you simply can’t beat the Yukon; for the third year in a row, the GMC Yukon was ranked the highest in its segment in the J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study.

The all-new Buick Encore was set to debut at the New York Auto Show later this month, but some impatient reporters have jumped the gun and have leaked images of the all-new Buick Encore ahead of schedule. These Buick Encore leaks are a must see!

As much as we’d like to admonish them for their questionable journalistic ethics, we can’t help but feel a little pleased here at Hatfield to be seeing the 2017 Buick Encore as soon as possible. Like the rest of the country (and folks all across the globe), we’re big fans of the Encore, and we’re happy to report that the new 2017 model looks just as promising as its renowned predecessors.

The all-new Buick Encore features a sharper front fascia styling, a new grille, and new wheel design. We haven’t been able to peak into the interior of the Encore as no cabin photos have been released; we have a feeling we’ll all have to wait for the New York Auto Show for those details.

All in all, the 2017 Buick Encore looks sharper-than-ever, and we can’t wait to start seeing them in our lot (and eventually your driveway).

Did you catch the Super Bowl commercial featuring the Buick Cascada?

If you caught the Super Bowl, you probably caught a glimpse at a Buick advertisement during one of the commercial breaks. This commercial stands out in a sea of other Super Bowl commercials for a number of reasons.

According to a Buick press release, the Buick Super Bowl commercial was the first one to air for the Buick brand during the biggest of big games.

Super Bowl commercials do not come cheap, so Buick knew they had to find a way to make it stand out. First, they chose to promote the luxurious Buick Cascada.

To make it stand out even more, Buick enlisted the help of New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and actress Emily Ratajkowski.

“We wanted talent that represented attributes of the Buick brand and design philosophy,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Global Buick Sales, Service and Marketing “For Buick, Odell Beckham Jr. represents unique talent and commitment to excellence that mirrors Buick’s commitment to performance. Emily Ratajkowski brings style which aligns with the Cascada’s design and adventurous spirit.”

The result was one of the best commercials of the night! If you haven’t seen it yet, be sure to check it out, and check out the Buick Cascada while you’re at it!

Stay safe with tips about driving in El Niño.

Already, this winter has been one of the strangest, wildest, most dangerous seasons in a long, long time, and it’s all thanks to that strange weather phenomenon we call “El Niño.”

So, what do you do when you need to get from Point A to Point B in bad weather? Our first tip is just to stay home, but if you need to be out driving in El Niño, here are a few tips to keep you safe:

  • Check your tires (an easy procedure: just stick a penny head-first into the tread; if any of Abe’s head is hidden, your tires are good to go). If you tread is worn, your traction is compromised and your chances of skidding, sliding, or slipping are greatly increased.
  • Avoid low elevation and valleys. Heavy rain means flooding and puddling, which can mean hydroplaning, which can me big accidents. This is one time when you really should take the high road!
  • Don’t use cruise control in wet conditions. In the event of hydroplaning or skidding, your car can accelerate instead of safely slowing.
  • Invest in snow tires. These really can make all the difference when the weather turns cold and rain turns into snow

Driving in inclement weather of any kind is a dangerous proposition, so the best thing you can do if you have to be on the road is remain aware, informed, and assertive. For more tips, stay in touch with us at Hatfield Buick GMC.

What Happened to the Spare Tire?

Learn why you may not have a spare tire.

If you’ve been car shopping in the last couple of years, you may have noticed that a seemingly important feature of some new cars has gone missing – the trusty spare tire. Thanks to improved technology, both in the tires themselves and in temporary tire repair, AAA reports that more than 36% of new 2015 models were sold without the spare tire.

Spare tires are heavy and take up a considerable amount of space in any car. By ditching the spare tire, automakers can claim better fuel economy numbers for their vehicles and improve cargo space. In place of spare tires, many automakers are putting to use run-flat tires or emergency flat-tire inflation kits.

Run-flat tires are designed to allow a driver to continue driving on a flat tire at a reduced speed until they can safely get to a repair shop or home. Emergency flat-tire inflation kits on the other hand, allow drivers to temporarily repair small punctures in the tire’s tread (keep in mind this kind of repair won’t work on the tire’s side wall).

Additionally, many new cars also come with road-side assistance for a specified amount of time, so that in the event you do have a flat tire, you won’t need to repair the tire yourself.
