Buick continues to be one of the safest automakers in the world, consistently offering a lineup of models that score highly on the industry’s top safety exams. In fact, the 2017 Buick Encore was just named the third new Buick with a 5-Star Safety Rating from the NHTSA.
Specifically, the Buick Encore scored five stars in both the front and side impact tests, and scored four stars in the rollover test – leading to an overall score of five. The Encore joins the new Buick Cascada and Buick Regal with this prestigious score.
The standard safety features available in the new Buick Encore include antilock brakes, brake assist, a rearview camera, 10 airbags, and more, while optional features include side blind-zone alert, rear park assist, forward collision alert, and lane departure warning.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has been operating its 5-Star Safety Rating Program for decades. In recent years, it has stood out among other safety scorers by offering a rollover crash rating.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been the ultimate voice in vehicle safety for decades, with their 5-Star Safety Rating Program adapting over the years to rate the effectiveness of new and ever-evolving safety technology.
The 5-Star Safety Rating Program evaluates the results from both front and side crash tests, and unlike many other institutions, the NHTSA also evaluates how the people inside of a car would fare in the event of a rollover. This serves to offer a more comprehensive look at vehicle safety that analyzes every important perspective.
It is these scores together that add up to a vehicle’s comprehensive safety score, earning it anywhere from 1 (the worst) to 5 (the best). If a vehicle earns 4 stars – or, better yet, 5 stars – you can bet that it is one of the safest models on the road.
The NHTSA also offers higher scores to vehicles with additional safety features, such as rearview cameras, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure Warning. Ultimately, these ratings are given to improve your chances of choosing the safest car possible.

Halloween is coming up again, which means that it’s time to starting planning those DIY Halloween costumes for your kids. The more time you spend planning and preparing the better, because your kid is sure to want to have the coolest costume n the cul-de-sac. Here’s a couple neat and creative ideas that are sure to get appreciative compliments from other parents.
- Race Car Driver: You don’t need much more than a track suit and a roll of black-and-white-checkered duct tape for this one. Get creative with putting duct tape strips on the track suit and maybe throw in a trophy, too.
- Genie: A cropped bolero-type jacket, puffy pants, and a few sparkly scarves pull together this fun and exotic costume. Flying carpet optional.
- Hot Air Balloon: How do you dress up like a hot air balloon? All it takes is a regular balloon filled with helium and tied to the corners of a laundry basket. For a fun Disney-inspired twist, try using several balloons and decorating a box like a house.
- Shadows: If you can get your hands on a kid-sized version of those all-black, full-body morph suits, put some all-black clothes on over it to transform your kids into walking shadows. Just be sure to incorporate something bright and/or reflective to make them more visible to drivers for safety purposes.
Remember, when you’re making DIY Halloween costumes, the sky is the limit. You don’t have to stick to these ideas. Try using your imagination and coming up with your own fun ideas! For a spacious vehicle to drive the kids around in this season, check out the 2017 GMC Terrain!
Next time you are bored, remember that there are strange things all around us. Just look at all of the weird travel destinations in California!
# 1 – Museum of Neon Art – Glendale
This museum is exactly what it claims to be: a collection of neon signs. In addition to the signs they’ve collected from famous theaters and other establishments, the museum also holds exhibits of artists working in the medium. Definitely worth looking into if you like lighting.
# 2 – Court of Mysteries – Santa Cruz
For architecture and mysticism aficionados, the Court of Mysteries remains an alluring attraction. The structure is modeled on a Yogi temple, and it features two stone towers and a beautiful archway. The weirdest thing about the house? It was built entirely at night.
# 3 – Watts Towers – Los Angeles
Built by an Italian immigrant, the Watts Towers are located in LA. Sabato Rodia would bring home pieces of broken pottery from where he worked. He would add the pottery to broken pieces of glass, and using wire mesh, mortar, and steel pipes, he constructed the towers.
# 4 – Audium Theatre of Sound-Sculpted Space – San Francisco
There are 169 speakers in the theater. Listeners sit in concentric circles as a conductor manipulates sound, shaping its intensity, direction and speed in ways that most people have never experienced.
If you find yourself in California looking for something new to try, these four locations are where it’s at. You can also stop by and see us at Hatfield Buick GMC!
Over in the Old World, they just can’t get enough of the wagon. Here in the United States, the popularity of wagons seems to wax and wane. Over here, we love our crossovers. But as crossovers become ubiquitous, a resurgence of wagons seems possible as a healthy alternative. And who better to head it off than Buick?
According to Automotive News, on the word of some of “the people who attended” a national dealer meeting, the next-generation Buick Regal will include a wagon model. The Buick Regal wagon would arrive as a 2018 model.
If you’ve noticed that Buick likes to explore segments that other automakers ignore, you’re onto something. In fact, it’s called their whitespace strategy. Look at the Buick Cascada, for instance. A classy and compact convertible? There’s hardly any automakers playing in that particular playground at the moment.
Now it looks like the upcoming Buick Regal wagon is going to be filling another one of those “whitespaces.” Why not? Buick does it so well.
Whenever a national tragedy occurs in our country, it can often be easy to feel confused, afraid, and helpless. However, there is a way that you can help, and that is through donating blood. Every day, patients across the state of California and the nation as a whole rely upon blood donations they receive through volunteer efforts. Even a little blood can go a long way for a patient who requires it.
At Hatfield Buick GMC, we understand the impact that blood drives can have. That is why we routinely volunteer as a blood drive site in the Inland Empire area. Our next blood drive is set to be held on July 19 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. During these hours, volunteers will have the opportunity to donate some of their blood to the drive.
Although the process can be a little unnerving with needles, the opportunity it creates for patients is well worth it. Here at Hatfield Buick GMC, we like to make it worth it just a little bit more for the donors as well. That is why every donor will be entered into a raffle to win a SoCal CityPASS ticket, good to use at locations like Disneyland. It’s just our way of saying thank you for participating in the Hatfield Buick GMC Blood Drive!
When the idea of entertainment during the summer season comes up, the most obvious form that entertainment takes is usually big summer action block busters. Our movie theaters are constantly filled with the latest films based on superheroes or aliens every year. These gigantic action movies have their own merits. However, sometimes the people of the Inland Empire desire something different. That’s where the Redlands Bowl Summer Music Festival comes into play.
According to an article from The Sun, the Redlands Bowl Summer Music Festival is set to bring high art to the Inland Empire area.
This music festival first began around 1924. Redlands Bowl was the brainchild of Inland Empire citizen Grace Stewart Mullen, who believed that the people of the Inland Empire area should have access to the fine arts. Since then, the festival has continually hosted acts like last year’s performance of Mary Poppins.
This year marks the 93rd anniversary of the Redlands Bowl Summer Music Festival. To celebrate, from June 28th until August 19th the Redlands Bowl is bringing in several different performances, ranging from a tribute to Johnny Cash to a performance of the musical Oklahoma! To make matters even better, each Redlands Bowl performance is free to the public, so you have no reason why you can’t head to the Redlands Bowl Summer Music Festival to enjoy some high art during the high heat of summer!
If you’re in Redlands, come by and say hi at Hatfield Buick GMC!
If you’re a dog-lover like so many of us here at Hatfield Buick GMC, you’ve seen all the warnings about leaving dogs in the car during the summer. Even if it doesn’t feel like it’s that warm outside, the temperature of your car can increase significantly after just a few minutes. In extremely hot weather, animals can sustain brain damage or even die from a heat stroke in as little as 15 minutes. When traveling with your dog, oftentimes stopping is necessary so we’ve put together some tips on how to keep your dog cool in the car.
- Use Sun Shades – Sun shades can be found in any automotive store section or even in the baby aisle. Even if it seems cool outside, sun penetrating through the windows will quickly heat the car to dangerous levels for all dogs.
- Use Cooling Mats or Coats – There are special cooling mats, or coats that have been designed to keep your dog from overheating. Check out some of the options here and here.
- Portable Battery-Powered Fans – If you aren’t able to leave your air conditioning on in the car, using a portable battery-powered will help circulate the air in the car.
- Pack a Cooler – When traveling with your dog, pack a cooler full of water and ice packs. When you stop let your dog out of the car for a cool drink and use the ice packs if they do start to overheat.
At Hatfield Buick GMC, we love our pets and see them as family so it’s important to keep their safety in mind too. Please, never leave your dog in a hot, unattended car. For statistics and other tips on how to keep your dog safe and cool in the summer.
