The Buick Avenir Concept is something special. Displayed at the 2015 North American International Auto Show last month, the concept took no time in garnering the attention of show attendees and industry experts alike. The concept is inspired by the fluidity of “water washing upon a shoreline,” and its graceful design earned the Avenir two 2015 EyesOn Design Awards for “Best Designed Concept Vehicle” and “Innovative Use of Color, Graphics and Materials.”
Not only did designers pay close attention to the details of the concept’s shape, they also used that same attention when choosing materials for the Avenir’s interior.
“The attention to detail within Avenir is outstanding,” said Charles Allen, a retired auto designer and chief judge for the 2015 EyesOn Design Awards. “What stands out to me is how well everything is integrated — all of the materials and elements work together seamlessly to provide a sensation of understated elegance that fits the Buick brand perfectly.”
Inside, the vehicle incorporates leather, suede, open-pore wood, chrome, and acrylic to create an interior whose flow continues with the design theme while providing simple elegance.
“Avenir’s global design team set out to make a striking design statement,” said Buick exterior design director, Holt Ware. We at Hatfield Buick GMC think they achieved their goal on both the outside and inside of the award-winning concept. Here’s hoping the Avenir inspires something new and bold for the masses somewhere down the line.
