According to the Transportation Research Institute at the University of Michigan, 97 percent of backing crashes involve striking another vehicle, but vehicles with rear backup cameras have a significantly reduced rate of these kinds of crashes.
This is the kind of data that has motivated Buick to add a rearview camera as a standard option to every vehicle in its lineup for the 2015 model year, which should greatly improve the level of safety and convenience afforded by the brand’s consumers.
In addition to the camera technology, the 2015 Enclave, Encore, LaCrosse, Regal, and Verano all boast a 5-star Overall Vehicle Score for safety in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s New Car Assessment Program.
They also feature active safety technologies like Forward Collision Alert, Side Blind Zone Alert, Lane Departure Warning, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. To top it all off, each 2015 Buick vehicle comes with standard OnStar Automatic Crash Response for six months.
“We know our customers are very safety conscious,” said Duncan Aldred, U.S. vice president of Buick and GMC. “The current Buick lineup holds many safety accolades, but we are always pushing to be at the forefront with our vehicles being among the safest available.”
